Obersteirische Initiative zur Interkulturellen Öffnung der Region / Initiative for an intercultural opening of the region Upper Styria

Die obersteirische Industrieregion mit den Zentren Knittelfeld, Leoben und Kapfenberg wurde in den letzten Jahren einem massiven Strukturwandel unterzogen, welcher sich u.A. durch einen vermehrten Abzug von Fachkräften, ansteigender Arbeitslosigkeit sowie einem Zuzug von MigrantInnen äußert.
 
Um sozialen Spannungen vorzubeugen und zudem das vielfältige Potential der MigrantInnen zu nutzen, erarbeitet die Projektgruppe von IKÖF innovative sozial- und arbeitsmarktpolitische Integrationskonzepte. Kernelemente sind: Die Erstellung neuer Sozialstudien, um von gesicherten Daten ausgehen zu können; die Entwicklung eines kompetenzbasierten Ausbildungsmodells, um Bildungsmaßnahmen kosten- und zeitsparend bei erhöhter Effizienz anbieten zu können; die Miteinbeziehung aller thematisch, organisatorisch und politisch relevanten Körperschaften, um eine möglichst breite Akzeptanz für dieses Integrationskonzept garantieren zu können.
 
 
The industrial area in Upper Styria – around the cities of Knittelfeld, Leoben and Kapfenberg – was location of many structural changes within the last years. Some of them were the departure of skilled work force, the increasing of unemployment and the arrival of migrants.
 
To avoid social conflicts and to benefit from the enrichment through new members of Upper Styria society, IKÖF’s project group dedicated its work to the development of an innovative concept of integration on social and labour market level. Key elements of this concept are: new works of social research concerning his topic, to make sure to work with reliable and valid data; development of an competence based education plan, to minimize costs and time, but to maximize efficiency of education measurement; Inclusion of all thematic, organisational and political relevant bodies, to guarantee highest possible acceptance for this integration concept.
